Walking, Cycling And Horse Riding

The local area

The Vale of Neath is an area made for cyclists, walkers and horse riders. Visitors to Neath Port Talbot will find paths, bridleways, cycle tracks and trails throughout our countryside attractions and can explore the area's most scenic landscapes by foot, bicycle or on horseback.

On foot

For those on foot, there are easy to follow waymarked nature trails and woodland strolls for a relaxing day out in the country or challenging long distance walks for enthusiasts.

National Cycle network

The Celtic Trail forms part of Route 4 of the National Cycle Network and  provides 380 miles of safe "cycle friendly" routes linking the major towns and tourist centres across South Wales. Cyclists can also enjoy 14 miles of off-road cycle routes in Afan Forest Park and the more adventurous can experience some of the best mountain bike trails in the U.K.

Horse Riding and pony trekking

Horse riding and pony trekking centres in the area will cater for the needs of the complete beginner to the expert equestrian. The hills are high, but not so high as to stop you riding from top to bottom in a day, and there are linked loops and trails that mean you will never be bored.
